Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) is famous as a host plant for the caterpillars of the Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus). It also supports many native pollinators. It is a tall, robust perennial plant which grows in well-drained soil and full sun. It spreads by underground runners and has a large rhizome, making it difficult to contain or remove in a garden setting.
