Long-beaked Sedge (Carex sprengelii) is a medium sized upland forest sedge with attractive foliage and distinctive, drooping seed heads. The bright green foliage forms clumps approximately 30 cm in diameter. As the plant matures the centre of the plant may die off forming a “fairy ring”. The plant can be divided at this stage for more robust growth. The seeds have long “beaks”, giving the seed heads a spiky appearance.
