Red Osier Dogwood (Cornus sericea) is a large deciduous shrub which grows in rich, moist soil with full or partial sun. It is flood and drought tolerant. In the winter, its bright red stems provide interest and colour in a garden setting. Multiple species of specialized mining bees (subgenus Gonandrena) use Red Osier dogwood as a host plant. Its white berries are an important food source for a wide variety of birds.
