Grass-leaved Goldenrod (Euthamia graminifolia) is a perennial plant with distinctive leaves that resemble blades of grass. It grows well in areas with average to moist soil and full sun. This plant spreads through underground runners and may be difficult to contain in a garden setting.
Goldenrods are keystone species that support many pollinators as both nectar sources and host plants. Grass-leaved goldenrod is a larval host plant for many moths including the Solidago Eucosma Moth (Eucosma cataclystiana) and Goldenrod Gall Moth (Epiblema scudderiana). Goldenrods are often falsely blamed for causing seasonal allergies; the real culprit is ragweed (Ambrosia spp.) which flowers at the same time.
