Lindley’s Aster (Symphyotrichum ciliolatum) can be found in medium to dry habitats in either full sun or part shade. It is similar to Heart-leaved aster, however its flowers are slightly larger and the leaves at the base of the plant are not heart-shaped.
Asters are keystone species that support many pollinators as both nectar sources and host plants. They are larval host plants to many specialized mining bee species (Family Andrenidae), dozens of moth species and many butterflies including the Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) and Crescent butterflies (Genus Phyciodes).
